Oven-Baked Asparagus Recipe

Oven-baked asparagus is always a sure sign that spring is here! This asparagus recipe is ready in 25 minutes and can be enjoyed regardless of the weather. With simple ingredients, it is easily the best way to add asparagus to your meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (1 bunch) fresh asparagus
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Squeeze of lemon

Instructions

  1. Clean and trim the asparagus by rinsing and removing the tough ends with a sharp knife or kitchen scissors
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss asparagus in oil, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, basil, and garlic powder; be sure stalks are fully coated in oil
  3. Spread asparagus out in a single layer on a foil-lined baking pan
  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes
  5. Add a squeeze of lemon once removed from the oven and immediately serve

Notes

  • Fresh garlic can be used in place of garlic powder; however, it tends to burn and will need to be watched closely
  • Bake time is approximate and will vary depending on stalk thickness or if a crisper texture is desired
  • Other variations include:
    • Balsamic Vinegar - Simply add balsamic vinegar to the olive oil when tossing
    • Parmesan Cheese - Sprinkle on a few tablespoons of parmesan before or after cooking
    • Red Pepper Flakes - To spice it up, add red pepper flakes as desired either before or after cooking
