Slow-Cooker Apple Butter Recipe
This is an easy slow-cooker recipe perfectly spiced with rich fall flavors. The best thing is that it doesn't require peeling, sugar, or sweeteners of any kind!
Prep: 10 Min. Cook: 11 Hrs. Total: 11 Hrs.10 Min. Yield: Approx. 3 Cups
Ingredients
- 5 lbs. apples (approx. 7 medium-sized apples)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 cup water
Directions
- Roughly chop and core the apples, leaving the peels on.
- Put the apples in the slow cooker; add water and spices.
- Cover and cook on low for 9-10 hours.
- Transfer the apple mixture into a blender, or use an immersion blender to blend the mixture until smooth.
- Adjust the slow cooker to high and continue to allow the mixture to cook for an additional 2 hours. Leave the lid open partially to let moisture escape (thickens the mixture). Stir the mixture every 30-45 minutes to prevent the apple butter from burning or sticking to the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Next, allow the apple butter to cool and store it in the refrigerator. Apple butter can stay in the fridge for up to one month or stored in the freezer for up to one year.
